In Minnesota, we’re so happy to feel the warmth of the sun.
Sunshine gives us Vitamin D from its UVB rays, better than any supplement or foods. Because warm sunshine’s doesn’t happen all the time up here and Vitamin D is super important for our immune system, heart health and mood, it’s great to get out there and bask in it as much as we can while we can.
Some people get too much sun, which can be super painful! If it happens, what do you do?
There are a lot of answers out there for what to do in case of sunburn. We hope you don’t get a painful sunburn, but if happens, you might want to keep ingredients on hand for a favorite body masque recipe that cools and moisturizes sunburned skin.
Brew 2 teabags of Chamomile or Green Tea in ¼ C of water. Press all the tea you can out of the bags into the tea. Dispose of tea bags and pour liquid into a blender.
Add:
1 chopped cucumber, including the peel
¼ C Aloe Vera gel (scraped from fresh leaves or from a bottle)
2 – 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender Essential Oil helps lessen the pain, so you might determine how much you decide to use based on your level of pain. Minor sunburns may be easily quenched with the aloe/tea/cucumber mixture alone.
If your entire body is affected, you may want to double the ingredients. Spread this mixture all over the areas that are sunburned, wrap yourself in a huge towel or an inexpensive sheet and let it soak in for a half hour or so. Rinse gently.
Cheers!
