How to Fragrance Your Home With Essential Oils
I'm someone who unfortunately can tell when someone is using plug-in air fresheners or commercial spray. How would you like to have a home that smells naturally fresh and inviting—without compromising health or wellness? Essential oils offer a natural, therapeutic alternative that transforms your space while supporting your well-being. Let me give you some suggestions for selecting and using these oils effectively, so you can create your own unique environment to nurture your body and mind.
Why Essential Oils?
Commercial air fresheners often contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and synthetic chemicals that can irritate your skin, lungs, or senses. Essential oils, on the other hand, are plant-based, offering a pure, natural fragrance that enhances your surroundings while promoting emotional balance and clarity.
Use A Diffuser
You can pick these up anywhere and it will come with instructions. Typically there is basin or fill cup that will show how much water to add. You can experiment with the amount of essential oil to add but it will be somewhere between 5 and 10 drops of oil (or oils) is more than enough to gently waft your selected aromas into a specific room. This works great for the living room or bedroom.
Make A Spray (Spritz or Mister)
Mix 5 drops of essential oil per ounce of distilled water in a dark mist spray bottle. Use this versatile spray on linens, upholstery, or simply in the air for a quick refresh. If all this seems like too much, I've actually created three of my own 'Aromamist' blends which you can read about here. Purchase individually or the sampler of all three.
